3 Jul 2007 - June/July Update

Dear Parents

We take this opportunity to thank you for your help and support during this awful weather and update you with our current news.

CONGRATULATIONS AND THANKS

To Fr. Finan on the occasion of his Golden Jubilee. Bishop Arthur praised him and thanked him on behalf of the Catholic community at his recent special Mass of Celebration. We are all indebted to the example of priestly service that Father has given in his 50 years as a priest, 21 of which have been with us in Halifax.
To our musicians and choir who sang so well at Fr. Finan's Jubilee Mass and to our Y4 and Y6 pupils who sang at Victoria Hall last week.
To our U9 cricketers who have reached the western semi-final of the Yorkshire schools cricket competition after beating Rowley Lane School from Huddersfield. The semi-final is against a school from Ilkley.
To our Junior children who attended the Calderdale Book of the Year at the Library. Special congratulations to Roisin McCallion, Katie Greenwood, Matthew Greenwood and Sam Naylor who wrote winning Book reviews for the event.
To our PTA for their fantastic fund raising effort at the Halifax Gala which raised £750. Splendid stuff! Please help and support the Summer Fayre, details of which were sent home recently.
To our friends at St. Catherine's High School after their positive visit from the OFSTED inspectors last week. It is pleasing to report on the solid progress being made. We also thank St. Catherine's staff and pupils for the very well organised U11 Catholic Schools Football and Netball competitions that they organised and hosted for the Catholic Partnership of Schools.
