Thanks to everyone involved.

CURRICULUM INFORMATION

We enclose information on this terms RE topics and other subjects with this letter. All children will have assessments during the term and there will be written reports for parents in the latter half of the term.

PTA REMINDER AND THANKS FOR SUPPORT OF OUR IMPROVEMENTS

We thank the PTA for their very generous support of our activities and schemes. The money that you raise this year is going towards the cost of transport for a number of trips and particularly our Y6 residential thus reducing the costs for parents. The PTA have also kindly paid out 10% contribution towards our new updated burglar alarm system which ensure secure coverage of all rooms and access points. Significantly, together with donations from individuals, our PTA have pledged to make a major contribution towards our Infant Playground works which are due to start at the end of May. We will need £4,000 towards the basic grounds work of £40,000 and additional monies to pay for playground equipment. I am very proud of our PTA?s efforts and generosity and encourage you all to support them this year. Simply, the more we raise the better the playground will be.

REMINDERPTA MEETING WEDNESDAY 9TH MAY - 7.00 P.M. IN SCHOOL.ALL WELCOME AT THIS IMPORTANT MEETING.

CATHOLIC EDUCATION IN CALDERDALE

We encourage you to stay alert and supportive of our Catholic education provision in Calderdale particularly over the next few months. Sometimes local events can become vehicles for wider agendas and it is important that as a Catholic school community we stand firm for our right to exist and to retain our identity.

Currently some of the decisions made by Calderdale Local Authority and the DfES relating to St. Catherine?s High School are very much open to interpretation and the suggestion that Calderdale people may not have the right to choose a quality Catholic Secondary School has implications for us all.
As we said in our last Newsletter we should be alert and where necessary vocal as there is a body of opinion nationally that is opposed to our existence. The weekend Bishop Arthur is writing to all the Catholic parishes in Calderdale and Kirklees and his Pastoral Letter will be read in all our churches on Sunday. Next week we will send copies of all our families.

FIRST COMMUNION -We ask you to keep our First Communion children and their families in your prayers over the next few weeks as they prepare for the May First Communion Sundays.

Finally, thank you for your continued support. We provide you with Diary Dates for the term and look forward to seeing you at our events and assemblies.

All best wishes
